JOB TITLE Production Planner

JOB DESCRIPTION Alucraft Limited have an excellent opportunity for a Production Planner who is detail-oriented, able to multi-task and in possession of strong communication skills. You will enjoy working in a fast paced environment, always strive to add value and have an ability to contribute in a cross-functional, collaborative environment. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work closely with other Departments in the business such as; Estimating, Procurement, Production and Design and have a meaningful impact on the success of the company.
TASKS & ROLES
  • Plan and prepare production schedules for manufacture of all products, assemblies and sub-assemblies
  • Draw up master schedules to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet manufacturing and shipping dates of sales forecasts or customer orders
  • Analyse production and estimating specifications to obtain project estimated data and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements
  • Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times
  • Confer with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
  • Prepare production reports
  • Prepare lists of required materials, tools, and equipment
  • Ensure purchase orders are placed on time to ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available when required
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to identify tools, processes and metrics to optimize supplier value
  • Good technical writing, documentation and record-keeping skills
  • Financial skills including cost modelling and cost analysis
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in business, management or related discipline
  • 3 years progressive experience in materials management using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • APICS certification – a plus
  • Experience in total quality, six sigma, lean or other similar manufacturing environments – a plus

Reporting to the Design Office Manager and Technical Director, you will provide day-to-day administrative support to a team of approximately 25 people within our Design Office. The scope of your role is extensive and offers great opportunities to excel and have a meaningful impact on the success of the company, as your role is critical in ensuring the smooth and timely transition of projects from each of the Design Office sub-departments to the next.
TASKS & ROLES
  • Provide efficient administrative support to the Design Office, namely the Design Office Manager and Technical Director

  • Booking of meeting rooms and other required resources
  • Scheduling meetings and distributing agendas / briefing documents in advance
  • Taking of minutes and distributing afterwards in a timely manner

TASKS & ROLES
  • Attend handover meetings on projects, receive a handover pack and ensure that a cost control system is implemented by each Designer, as a result

    – Request for Information (RFI) System

  • Liaise between the Design Team and the Technical Director with regards to commented drawings and variations
  • Ensure that the relevant schedules and specifications are passed to the Purchasing Department on time, to ensure that items are available and bought at best price
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of quality system ISO 9001:2015 within the Design Office
  • You will play a key role in our ongoing ‘Continuous Improvement Programme’, working closely with the Senior Management Team and external consultants
  • Liaise with the Technical Director and HR Department to ensure that the training needs of the Design Team are met
  • Assist the Technical Director with administrative tasks such as scheduling when required

  • A recognised third level qualification in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience

  • To communicate difficulties experienced in the design process with the contracts manager & the project team that will affect Alucrafts‘s programme of works
  • To use our company procedures in a positive and proactive manner to achieve the correct end result for the project
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Essential

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of construction industry methodologies on detailing and building erection sequencing
  • Computer literate in AutoCAD /3D modelling / Microsoft office
  • Have experience of the major aluminium systems supplier’s products
  • 5 years facade detailing and procurement experience

Desirable

  • Experience in Construction or Engineering environment
  • Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or related discipline
